Former Indiana University basketball coach Bobby Knight, who was fired for behavior the schools’ president said was “uncivil, defiant and unacceptable,” will appear Wednesday at an Indianapolis rally for GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump, according to multiple sources.

The Hill reported the Trump campaign announced Knight’s appearance on Monday.

Trump tipped his hand over the weekend at a Connecticut rally when he said that Knight was one person he wanted to endorse him.

“I love Bobby Knight,” Trump said. “The truth is he did endorse me. We are gonna have Bobby Knight in Indiana in a week.”

The state of Indiana has taken on huge importance in the Republican presidential primary since Ohio Gov. John Kasich has dropped out of the Hoosier state’s primary – leaving Trump going head to head with Ted Cruz in a winner-take-all race for the state’s 57 delegates.

If Cruz can win those delegates, Trump’s path to a victory before the GOP convention in July becomes much more difficult, leaving open the possibility that the race will be decided by a floor fight and not by voters.

Knight was a beloved, if not mercurial coach who won 659 games and three national championships at IU before he was fired after the 2000 season following a series of infractions. He’s the third-winningest men’s college coach of all time.

Trump is scheduled to hold a rally Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis.

Knight’s endorsement should come as no surprise. A New York Times Magazine article last September said that Knight was on a speaker phone with Trump in Trump’s office when a reporter entered the room.

“No one has accomplished more than Mr. Trump has,” Knight said after Trump told him that a reporter was in the room.
