FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT) – The House passed a bill Monday to promote economic development in Eastern Kentucky. House Bill 156, sponsored by Rep. Chris Fugate, will create the Kentucky Mountain Regional Recreation Authority to stimulate outdoor recreation and tourism development.

“Eastern Kentucky is home to some of the most natural beauty in our state,” said Rep. Fugate. “In a time when our region is in need of real economic development, the KMRRA will allow us to capitalize on tourism opportunities available to us. I am proud to support the continued development of Eastern Kentucky, and I commend the House for passing this measure.”

House Bill 156 is the first piece of legislation sponsored by Rep. Fugate to pass the House.

The measure will now head to the Senate for consideration.
