FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – The State Board of Elections will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday to certify the results of Kentucky’s special House elections last week.

The winners cannot take the oath of office until after the board certifies the results.

The board had been scheduled to meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. But the House is scheduled to convene at 2 p.m. on Tuesday to vote on a two-year spending proposal. Kentucky Secretary of State spokesman Bradford Queen said the meeting was moved to 9 a.m. to accommodate the legislature.

Democrats won three of the four special elections on Tuesday, giving them a 53-47 advantage over the Republicans. It takes 51 votes to pass a budget. House Speaker Greg Stumbo has asked the board to certify the results as soon as possible.
