BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) — When we interviewed U.S. Congressman James Comer last week, he predicted today’s Mexico announcement, when we talked about the trade wars the U.S. and some other nations are currently involved in, which are causing concern for farmers.

“Most people realize that we’re gonna have to have a little short-term pain to realize the long-term gain,” said Rep. Comer. “So I think that the fact that we’re making progress with Mexico right now and I understand from the Trump administration that an announcement’s forthcoming. So I believe that we are making progress, but it’s gonna be a few more months before we get a bilateral trade agreement, which is what the goal of the president is.”

To help cushion the blow of the trade war, Trump is pushing a $12-billion emergency aid package for farmers.
